After a very delightful night sleep with my music playing on low volume in the background, I wake up to a graduate volume enhance of the song How To Save a Life by the Fray. There’s no better way to start your day than a dose of your favourite music. I reach to stop the volume enhancement and stabilize it. While singing, I stretch out and loosen my muscles. Slowly but surely, I roll out of bed and make my way to the shower.
After a nice long hot shower, I get dressed and do my hair. Luckily, my school demands a uniform, so getting dressed is never a problem or a hassle. Then I lightly gel my hair and blow dry my bangs. With two little pins, I pin up a few chunks of hair on the side to keep it out of my face. Once my hair is all done, I do my make-up. All While listening to music and singing along.
The final step to getting freshened up is to brush my teeth. I can’t leave my house without brushing my teeth, I feel like I have bad breath from my night guard. I am a tooth grinder. My dentist told me it would be a good idea if I started wearing a night guard to protect my teeth from my intense grinding and clenching. At first, I was horrified of the idea of sleeping with some gadget in my mouth. After getting the moulds done and all the preparations, my night guard was ready for me. I was shocked by it’s size. It’s really not what I was expecting. You can barely tell that I’m wearing one when my mouth is closed. Regardless of its benefits and comfort, when it’s time to remove it in the morning, I’m left with the after taste of rubber. That’s why I feel like I have bad breath and must absolutely brush before leaving the house. It’s also for proper hygiene of course!
It seems a little odd that I would brush my teeth before my drinking coffee. The reason behind that is that, there’s none at all. I like to bring my coffee with me everywhere. Seeing as the first place I go to during the day after leaving my house is school, I can simply bring a coffee mug with me. I cannot however, bring a sink with a tooth brush and tooth paste with me everywhere. In this case, I bring an apple. Though I’m still now sure if this is true or not, I was always told that apples clean your teeth. Therefore, after my delightful cup of homemade, freshly brewed coffee, in a Starbucks mug for illusion, I eat an apple so that it may or may not clean my teeth. At this point, I am ready to take off for my adventure to school.

My 15 minute walk to school is always an adventure. With my coffee in hand and music to my ears, I could not ask for a better moment to myself. Unfortunately, there’s just so many things that catch my eye. All or most of my walk to school, I see cigarette butts tossed to the edge of the side walk and on the grass. Now, the decision to shorten your life span is yours to take, smoke if you will, but don’t pollute our environment. I see a lot of beer cans and broken bottles around my neighbourhood. I understand that my street is full of teenagers and young adults who like to party and have a good time. It is however, against the law to drink in public. Theses “party animals” could easily party inside, in one’s home without disturbing their neighbours and the surroundings. The last thing we need is hazards on the streets that children play in. Last but not least, the paper cups tossed away. As a caffeine consumer, I too understand the need of a quick cup of coffee, especially when on a rush. In my neighbourhood, there is a Starbucks and a Tim Hortons. This means that for all the working men, women and students, it makes it easy to grab a cup of coffee on the go. It’s just as easy to hold onto the empty cup until you come across a garbage can. Many people seem to have forgotten that. It’s little things like theses that distraught me from my serene time alone every morning.
I normally arrive at school just as the first bell rings, therefore I rarely have time to actually stick around and catch up with my friends. I walk into school, leave my backpack and such in my locker and head straight to class. English class is, I believe, my second favourite class this semester. We have so much freedom to do as we please with our work and it gives us the opportunity to really express ourselves. Even though this year has only begun, I can tell it’s going to be a blast.
The Five minute break can be a very stressful time in a student’s life, especially when each class is set far apart. “Will I make it in time?! – I think I’m going to run through the mob of people in the hallway and risk hurting myself in order to get in class!”. Lucky for me, I have mastered the ultimate speed walking and dodging skills. While walking, I am capable to pivot my body 90 degrees exact in order to successfully cut through crowds in the safest way possible, avoiding all injuries to myself or those who surround me.

English is my second favourite class this semester only because nothing can top my sound tech class. I do have to say, I am very lucky that my high school offers such a program. Basically the concept is to learn the techniques required for a successful recording. Music is one very important aspect in my life. Knowing I can play various instruments and create my own sounds is such a rewarding feeling. Now being able to record my music in a studio for me to keep forever is a completely different feeling of accomplishment. I have yet to actually start recording, but when the time comes, it will be phenomenal.

Because of my schedule, I get 2 and a half hours off. From 11:00 am until 1:20 pm, I’m free! Normally I sit or walk around with a few friends to pass the time. I could even walk home and take a nap if I want to. I could watch two full episodes of the sopranos. If I won the lottery, I would have time to take a private jet, fly to Buffalo, do some shopping and fly back in time for my next class. Now that’s something.

It’s 1:25 pm, my break time is over and it’s back to work. Unfortunately, at this time of the day, I’m exhausted. Spending 2 and a half hours of doing absolutely nothing really drains everything out of you. To top it off, I don’t have any more coffee and I’m in Math class. Math used to be my strongest subject, until I realized it was important for college and it started freaking me out. Now it’s probably one of my weakest subjects because of my fear of failing at it. I’m not saying I’m failing in Math class, I’m just not doing as well as I used to.
Finally, It’s 3:00 pm and school is over. I walk home mentally preparing myself for the hassle that awaits. When I get home, I will have to make dinner for myself and 4 others, walk my dog, pick up my sister, get changed and freshened up, walk to the bus stop and take 2 buses in order to make it at work before 5 o’clock. It doesn’t sound so complicated, but taking under consideration that I have about 1 hour and a half to do this all, it can be quite stressing.
After a long day at school and a few hours at work, I’m beat tired and ready to sail off to another land. As the music in my background carries me away, I fall into the deepest sleep of which I will only awake with the rising sound of a melodic invasion.
