Chosen Path perhaps?

So my college applications have been sent in and for the past week I've been wokring on my portfolio for admittance to the Animation course. I've also been doing alot of research while im at it to see what im really getting myself into. I have to say I am quite excited. If all goes well (and I'm hoping it does) After 3 years in college studdying the fine art of digital animation, I'll start an internship in a media studio. Perhaps I'll be working on movies or commercials!

In given time.... lets say about 7 or 8 years, look out at the end of movie credits! you'll one day see ... dun dun dunnnnnn

Animation Director Jessie K

or maybe.. most probably...

Animator Jessie K :P

oh mannnn......

Its January, I applied to college a little less than a month ago and deadline is in less than 2 weeks.
Ive received letters from all the colleges I've applied to and I've received portfolio requirements in order for acceptance. I have a portfolio interview in less than a month and I'm FREAKING OUT!
Ohh mannn oh mannn oh mannnnn..... I think I'm finally experiencing this little feeling called.... Stress?

I'm not liking it too much.

Avatar

I have seen quite a few movies lately. In fact, that's about all I do on my spare time is watch movies. I'll sit there and watch a movie and analyse almost every aspect of it. That's besides the point. During the Holidays, I took my cousin to watch James Cameron's Avatar. I heard that this movie has been worked on since 1994 and was supposed to be released in 1999. However, technology had further advanced since the film making therefore, it was further edited since 1999 until 2009 when it was released December 18th. I personally think the time spent on this film was well worth it. I haven't seen a movie this good in a really long time. The Story line was amazing. The characters were very well developped and destinct from your typical characters. The Cinematorgraphy was beautiful, the scenic views were compleitly outstanding. The visual effects were deffinately more advanced than they would have been had the movie been released 10 years ago. The movie itself kept me mezmerised through the entire film. I hestitated to even blink. It takes alot for a movie to make me purposly dry out my eyes. My eyes nearly fell out of their sockets with this one. Koodos to you Mr. James Cameron.

The Miracle of Life.

Most people think its wrong to have a baby until theres a formed couple that is entirely ready to financially support themselves and a baby. This is of course a valid statement and makes a lot of sense, however it doesn't make having an accidental baby wrong. A friend of mine has just gone through the joy of giving birth to the first 2010 baby of our area. On the contrary to everyones thought of her having a miserable life once the baby has arrived, I believe my friend will be an amazing mother. Of course it will be difficult but in no way will her child be a burden.
There's no way any child could be a burden. They are miracles of life.

My Dream schools.

There are 2 Schools that I would do anything to attend after highschool. It sounds really lame because they arent at all the worlds greatest art schools, but in my mind they are perfect. I'll start with the one with my least possible attendance.
Fanshawe College.
Fanshawe College is Probably one of the most advanced media based colleges in Ontario. This would be my first college application choice if I had the opportunity to move to London, Ontario.
The only thing stoping me is the money. It's not much the tuition that is expensive, it's the fact I would have to live on my own, pay for my own food, rent and maintenance. I know that I'm not ready for that kind of responsibility.

My second choice for my dream school would be OCAD. Ontario College of Arts and Design. This one is perfect because its in Toronto. Its about a 15 minute walk from Union Station. Seeying as I grew up in Toronto, I'm quite familiar with the area so I know that If i had to move there ti wouldnt be an issue. However i know that wouldnt be the case. I could easily take the GoTrain there and back. And now the only thing stopping me from attending this school, it's a private school. Its not on the application list, I've researched and I cant find the tuition costs or anything, I've tried asking a few of my friends that attend this school but i cant seem to get a hold of any of them. Now this is stressing me out because I know I could go to this school, it's just a matter of knowing how to apply.
Another thing that has me complietly dumbfounded is that I haven't a clue as to how to submit my portfolio for addmitance. All the programs of Graphic Design that I am applying for require a Digital Portfolio. My Portfolio is quite impressive and all, but if i cant show it to anyone, I don't stand a chance...

Religious Disputes (I wouldn't suggest reading this if you are deeply in touch with the catholic religion)

I got in this huge argument with my mother this weekend. This kind of argument comes along very often specially during the holiday season. It's not about gifts or money or anything like that. It's about religion. My mother is dead set on being a Catholic and I compleitly 100% respect that. I also understand that in the town she grew up in, everything was based on religion. Everyone in her little town was super religious, going to church every sunday and celebrating the true meanning of christmas and everything. Therefore, I can understand my mother when she wants to enforce the deep catholic ways into our household. The only thing that really bothers me is that my mother is so closed minded. She got mad at me because i dont make an effort to go to church every sunday. I do agree that i dont make an effort and even when she decides were going to church I often try to make my way out of it. It's not that I don't like it, It just doesnt make sense in my head that a true Catholic must attend church every sunday. Belief and Faith in something or someone is something very Interpersonal. It's something that as long as I know is there and I know I beleive, I dont need to show to the world by presenting myself to mass. Anyway, when I said i dont find a reasonto present myself to Mass, that's when she flipped. She started going on about how we have to praise our lord and only hope that thoses in other countries that pray to false gods get illuminated and all that kind of stuff. It makes me so angry when she says things like that. She doesnt understand that just how we have valid reasons to believe in our god, so does every other religion. There is not one religion out there that started by some random person creating his own imaginary character and calling him god and have millions of people praise him. It doesnt work like that, behind every religion there is history and facts and no valid reason to go against it. My mother doesnt understand this. She also doesnt understand that I'm very open minded when it comes to religion. I do have to say that I dont at all have strong catholic faith. I do beleive there was a man long ago that did everything in his power to help all thoses in need when he could. I do beleive that he did great things and brought hope to many people. But what makes us think he was the only one to do things this powerful. In my mind, there are logical explanations for so many events that occured in the bible that were apparently miracles of the lord.
I have a bouddhist cousin that spend a few years in thailand and got very intreagued by the culture and found much more sense to it. When he got back and told me all about it, I think thats when my mentality on things started to change the most. I'm not saying at all that it's my cousins fault that im not a strong catholic believer. I am however very thankful that he shared all he's learned from the bouddhist religion. It's opened my eyes to accepting every religion for what it is, and where it came from.

I believe in a greater force regardless of what it is.

Money issues

So this is probably the most hectic time of the year, aside from college Apps. Money is deffinately an issue for me this year. I know im not the only one whos struggling, specially given the fact that im not the only 12th grader having to save for college. Regardless, this is still a pretty hard time. I have quite a few gifts to buy of which i have only bought 2. It's 10 days before christmas with only about 4 days available for me to do my shopping. I'm pretty freaked at the fact i still have 2 pretty big bills to pay, driving school and money for college to save for. It really isnt helping that my work hired around 10 new associates in my department, so my hours got cut by half the time. Right now, I'm getting about 2 shifts a week at a total of 14 hours. At least i have quite understanding friends and I've let them known already that they're getting a raincheck on their gifts. They are however, going to get something. If I could only win the lottery and not tell a soul, theses problems would probably go away...
