New Principal Barricades Students!

My school has applied a series of rediculous new rules. I have great respect for our new principal. It is definately not easy embarking as the new principal of a high school who is used to the way it has been ran for the past 6 years. But this man is way in over his head. In my opinion, being a new principal, he should ease his way into the position and start off on a good note. In this case, our new principal dumped a cluster of new rules on the first day! Funny thing is, we as students were expected to follow this whole new set of rules within the first day. Have they forgotten that as Senior student and the fact our school is combined with junior high and it has been run by the same principal from the begining of our education at this highschool, we've been following the same rules for 6 years. We are accustomed to our highschool living. We cannot change all our ways in one day.

The new rule that makes me laugh the most is that we cant wear our own sweaters or jackets INSIDE the school. Not wearing our own sweaters in class makes perfect sense because we are required to wear a uniform, that i understand compleitly. During our breaks or lunch hour while were roaming the hallways or the cafeteria, or even just heading outside, we will get flipped on if we arent wearing dress shoes or we're wearing a sweater or coat. This is abolutely rediculous.

Another rule that has just applied this week, 5 absences and we're in trouble? I would understand if this applied for a month or two, but for the whole year?! Are they out of their minds? Are we supposed to be programmed robots with boosted immune systems? We are humans, humans get sick, humans go through exhaustion, humans visit doctors etc. There are so many valid reasons as to why a student would be absent to a class and yet we cannot do anything about it.

Well I agree students can't just follow a bunch of new rules in one day and keep adding new ones as we go. I know a lot of students aren't going to follow this because they don't like it but I think our principal is just trying to make the school better. He should try and do it slowly though. What can we do?
